With endorsement from senior management and engagement with senior leaders across the organization, Amgen has implemented a global strategy designed to leverage our diversity and create a more inclusive workplace. Our priorities are:
- Increasing the percentage of women in manager and above roles
- Increasing the percentage of women in senior vice president and above roles, which is also defined as our operating team
- Increasing the percentage of African Americans and Hispanics in executive director and above roles
This new strategy is intended to help Amgen successfully navigate a complex global marketplace as we bring more medicines to more patients around the world. Amgen is setting goals in order to improve our focus. These goals will also serve as a baseline for measuring our progress toward a more inclusive workplace.
Employee Resource Groups (ERG's) are a tool we use to promote and support as well as illustrate the impact and value that has on our business. There are currently ten Global ERG's at Amgen, all with executive sponsorship, that are organized around a primary diversity dimension. We provide leaders and managers with training and tools to lead a diverse workforce and create an inclusive environment.
